The history of the air battles over Rivierenland

Heavy air battles were fought in Rivierenland during the Second World War. Rivers like the Waal and the Rhine were important navigational aids for the planes on their way to bomb Germany. Everyone knows the stories of brave heroes who fought in the Nijmegen and Arnhem regions, but who died in Rivierenland and where were they buried? The new free app Heroes of the Sky answers these kinds of questions.

The app was developed by the Regional Office for Tourism (RBT) Rivierenland in the context of the Gelderland Remembers program and was created thanks to financial support from the Province of Gelderland, the municipality of Culemborg, Neder-Betuwe, Zaltbommel and West Maas and Waal.
